KAPE Board Elects New President
On Saturday, April 21, the Executive Board of the Kansas Association of Public Employees elected Gerald Raab as president. Raab will serve for two years to complete the term of the former president who left the position in late March. "This is an exciting time for KAPE," Raab said. "State employees are coming together in a new merged union with statewide bargaining units. This means we’ll have more power at the bargaining table to negotiate meaningful salaries for state employees. We also intend to maintain our focus on the interests of higher education, local government and school district employees. We intend to grow KAPE in every public employee jurisdiction. It really is a new day for all of us."
KAPE Board votes to merge state employees with AFSCME colleagues to create stronger union; New union is under the KAPE umbrella
